Michigan Schools Struggle with Learning Recovery Following COVID-19 Pandemic, According to Study

MICHIGAN, Feb. 12, 2025 ~ Michigan continues to lag in student reading comprehension recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, compared to other states.

A recent study from the Education Recovery Scorecard shows that Michigan ranked 17th in math recovery and 44th in reading between 2019 and 2024. The study also found that the average Michigan student is over three-quarters of a grade level behind in reading.
