MICHIGAN, Feb. 19, 2025 ~ The state of Michigan is standing firm against President Donald Trump‘s demands for the state to remove diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs from its schools.
In a memo sent out Friday, the Trump administration told public schools they risk losing federal funding if they don’t cut such programs, worried that they harm “harm” students. State Superintendent Michael Rice sent a statement to the media in response to the memo, saying that the Michigan Department of Education will review its legal options in response to the order and that the “MDE disagrees that pre-K-12 programs that promote diversity representing all children, regardless of race, and inclusion of all children, regardless of race, inherently harm particular groups of children.”
