MSU Athletics Hires Former Detroit Lions’ Executive Jon Dykema

EAST LANSING, Feb. 19, 2025 ~ Michigan State athletics added to their name, image, and likeness staff Wednesday afternoon, hiring former Detroit Lions Director of Football Compliance Jon Dykema. Dykema will be joining in a newly created position titled Executive Senior Associate AD/Student-Athlete Management and Assistant General Counsel.

In this role, Dykema will be in charge of overseeing NIL contracts, media rights deals, and employee contracts. 

Dykema spent 14 years with the Lions before returning home to his alma mater. A native of Grand Rapids, Dykema also served as a student manager with the MSU basketball team under head coach Tom Izzo during their 2000 national championship run.

Dykema also has experience in the college landscape, as he spent four seasons (2007-11) as Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at the University of Utah

With revenue sharing set to debut this upcoming season, Dykema’s hire will help MSU athletics manage all of the changes coming to college athletics.
