MEXICO, March 27, 2025 ~ A timeshare dispute has led to a Michigan couple being jailed since March 4 in Mexico.
Shortly after landing in Cancun for a vacation, Christy and Paul Akeo were arrested after Palace Elite Resorts, a Mexican hotel business, filed a criminal complaint claiming the two defrauded the company out of $117,000 related to a timeshare membership they had with Palace Elite. Lawyers representing the Akeos said the couple denies any wrongdoing.
