EAST LANSING, March 30, 2025 ~ No. 2 seed Michigan State basketball fell to No. 1 Auburn 70-64 in the Elite Eight Sunday evening in Atlanta. The Spartans shot 34% from the field, while Tigers senior forward Johni Broome scored a game-high 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Junior forward Jaxon Kohler did his best to keep MSU in the game throughout the evening, leading all of his teammates with a 17 point, 11 rebound double-double. Senior guard Jaden Akins and junior point guard Tre Holloman combined to shoot 6-27 from the field and 3-15 from the 3-point line.
Despite the loss, alumni like NBA legend Magic Johnson shared their support over social media in honor of a Big Ten championship season.

(CONTINUED) Senior forward Frankie Fidler also had a solid performance for the green and white off the bench, scoring nine points while snagging five rebounds and playing solid defense.
Auburn shot efficiently throughout the day, thanks in large part to Broome’s impact, making 26-61 attempts from the field.
The program’s attention will now be moved to the transfer portal as players have started to decide where they want to spend their futures. Freshman guard Jase Richardson’s NBA decision is also in the air, with the question of a return to be answered over the coming weeks.
