EAST LANSING, April 1, 2025 ~ After losing to No. 1 seed Auburn in the Elite Eight at the NCAA Tournament over the weekend, multiple Michigan State Men’s Basketball players announced that they will be entering the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon.
Junior point guard Tre Holloman, sophomore forward Xavier Booker, and redshirt freshman forward Gehrig Normand all announced their intention to test the waters of the portal.
Holloman’s decision comes as the biggest shock, after averaging a career-high 9.1 points and 3.7 assists for the Spartans. The upcoming senior is set to have a breakout year after finding success off the bench as the sixth man in 2024-2025. There is always a chance for return, but playing time at the point guard position next to redshirt freshman Jeremy Fears. Jr. will be hard to come by in 2025-2026.

(CONTINUED) Booker, a former 5-star prospect, struggled in his two years on campus to find his footing in the rotation. The Indianapolis native averaged 4.7 points per game and 2.2 rebounds over the course of the season.
Normand only saw the court for a total of 26 minutes this season. The former 4-star out of Texas managed to score eight points and while dishing out three assists in limited time.
Freshman guard Jase Richardson’s NBA decision is also in the air, with the question of a return to be answered in the coming weeks.
Players will have until the portal closes on April 22 to decide whether they stick with their current program or look for greener pastures.
