DETROIT, April 2, 2025 ~ In Tuesday’s State of the Region Address, the Detroit Regional Chamber stated concerns over the Trump administration’s new set of tariffs.
President Donald Trump is set to issue tariffs on April 2, what he’s calling “liberation day,” which is expected to include 25% tariffs on auto imports. “Michigan is at a disproportionate risk with the tariff policies that are being contemplated, and who knows what’s going to happen in the next hour and a half here,” Sandy Baruah, Detroit Regional Chamber executive officer, told WJR Wednesday morning in regards to the state’s auto industry. “We’re in a really challenging situation.“
