EAST LANSING, April 2, 2025 ~ Michigan State Football’s spring practice is well underway, as transfers settle in and second year players and coaches reach a deeper understanding of what needs to be done to improve upon a 5-7 2024 season.
After a tough sophomore campaign, junior quarterback Aidan Chiles is focusing on strengthening his voice in the locker room.
“Last year I don’t feel like I was the leader I should have been,” Chiles told the media after practice. “This year, Instead of talking about it, really just doing it. Leading by example, taking action.”

(CONTINUED) New additions to the offensive line and receiver room through the transfer portal should provide a boost to Chiles’ 13-touchdown, 11-interception stat line last year. So far, the Spartans have incorporated 16 new transfers and 11 freshmen to the roster.
While the spring transfer window isn’t officially open, the 10-day portal period is already welcoming new players like former MSU cornerback Caleb Coley. Head Coach Jonathan Smith will have from April 16-25 to continue supplementing his roster.
With no spring game wrapping up off-season training period, the final practice will be held on April 19. The first game of the 2025 will kick off on Aug. 30 against Western Michigan at Spartan Stadium.
