DETROIT, April 13, 2025 ~ Rory McIlroy defeated Justin Rose in a 19th hole playoff finish at the 89th Masters Sunday afternoon at Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia. After leading for most of the day, McIlroy missed a chance to win with a putt on 18. Rose followed with a missed putt in the playoff, setting up McIlroy to take home the $21,000,000 purse with a birdie in the first Masters playoff since 2017.

He is just the sixth golfer ever to achieve a career grand slam, joining the likes of Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. It had been 11 years since his last championship win.
