MICHIGAN, April 17, 2025 ~ The pool of candidates for Michigan‘s open Senate seat grew Thursday after Dr. Abdul El-Sayed announced his candidacy in the Democrat primary.
The former health director in Wayne County joins State Sen. Mallory McMarrow (D-Royal Oak) in the Democrat primary to fill the seat that Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) will leave in 2026. So far, the GOP primary is filled by former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers. El-Sayed voiced frustrations with current Democrat leaders, saying they are failing to properly fight back against President Donald Trump‘s agenda.
