DETROIT, April 18, 2025 ~ The Detroit Lions hold the 28th pick in the first round of next Thursday’s NFL Draft in Green Bay. Here are some projections for Detroit, who are in need of help on the offensive and defensive lines.

A multitude of injuries in the trenches derailed a historic season early in the playoffs for the Lions last season. As University of Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham is projected to be a top-5 pick, fellow Wolverine defensive tackle Kenneth Grant expressed interest in staying in the state of Michigan. The junior recorded 18 tackles and three sacks last year. Defensive end will also be a position to keep an eye on, as Ohio State’s Jack Sawyer met with Detroit at the NFL Combine.

(CONTINUED) Two other positions of need are offensive line and wide receiver. North Dakota State’s Grey Zabel has been soaring up NFL draft boards, due to his ability to be versatile among all positions on the offensive line. Detroit hosted Texas receiver Matthew Golden, rated as one of the top wideouts in the draft. With Jameson Williams’ future contract still up-in-the-air, Golden could serve as Williams replacement with a lighting-quick 4.29 40 yard dash.

Michigan edge Josaiah Stewart should also be a name to look out for. Stewart has met with Detroit numerous times during the pre-draft process. The senior tallied 8.5 sacks in 2024.

Round 1 will open Thursday, April 24 at 8 p.m. Follow WJR.com for coverage from the entire weekend.
