EAST LANSING, April 18, 2025 ~ Michigan State Men’s Basketball is continuing to do work in the transfer portal. After landing junior forward Kaleb Glenn earlier in the offseason, Samford guard Trey Fort announced his commitment to the Spartans Friday afternoon.
The 24-year old will have one year of eligibility remaining. The shooting guard averaged 14.6 points and 4 rebounds per game last season. An efficient shooter, Fort posted a 44.8 field goal percentage while knocking down 3-pointers at a 37.9% clip on 211 attempts. This will be his sixth school in as many years, including a year with Mississippi State in 2023-2024.
Sophomore Kur Teng is the only other shooting guard on the roster at the moment. Fort will be replacing guards Tre Holloman, Jaden Akins, and possibly Jase Richardson if he decides to stay in the NBA Draft.

(CONTINUED) Fort is already familiar with the Breslin Center. When Samford came to play the Spartans on Nov. 19, he scored four points on 1-8 shooting in 22 minutes, grabbing four rebounds as well. Glenn also played against MSU last season while coming off the bench for Florida Atlantic.
With the addition of Fort and Glenn, the only glaring hole on the roster is the backup point guard position. These additions have also helped solve the spacing issues that the departures from last year’s team left.
Head Coach Tom Izzo will have until Tuesday, April 22nd to add more transfers as the portal closes on this day.
