DETROIT, April 19, 2025 ~ The sixth seeded Detroit Pistons gave up a 21-0 run in the fourth quarter in a 123-112 loss to the three seeded New York Knicks in game one of the first round of the NBA Playoffs Saturday evening at Madison Square Garden.
Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson tallied a game-high 34 points and eight assists, while Detroit’s All-Star Cade Cunningham recorded a 24 point, 12 rebound double-double. Missed shots and turnovers killed the Pistons in the final 12 minutes. Detroit managed to give up the ball seven times in the final period and 20 in total.
Veterans Tobias Harris and Malik Beasley stepped up in the first three quarters though. Harris notched a team-high 25 points and six rebounds while Beasley posted 20.

(CONTINUED) University of Michigan Alumni Tim Hardaway Jr. also had a solid performance. He finished with 19 points.
New York forward OG Anunoby and center Karl-Anthony Towns gave Detroit problems all night long. Anunoby limited Cunnigham to an 8/21 shooting performance while posting 23 points. Towns also scored 23 and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double.
