DETROIT, April 21, 2025 ~ The sixth seeded Detroit Pistons learned from late mistakes in game one to overcome the third seeded New York Knicks 100-94 in game two Monday night at Madison Square Garden. With the win, Detroit has evened the first round playoff series at 1-1.

This is the first time since the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals that the Pistons have recorded a win in the postseason. The team had made the playoffs three times after that, but got swept each go around.

Late game heroics from Dennis Schröder, including a 3-pointer and free throw to push the lead to four with 10 seconds left, propelled Detroit after not recording a field goal for over five minutes during the final period. He finished with 20 points.

Centers Jalen Duren and Paul Reed were successful in replacing the production of center Isaiah Stewart, who didn’t play due to right knee inflammation. Duren tallied a 12 point, 13 rebound double-double while Reed provided some clutch baskets in the fourth quarter.

Forward Tobias Harris continued his game one momentum into Monday night. The veteran scored 15 points, but was also big on the boards. He secured 13 for the team’s third double-double of the night.
