DETROIT, April 24, 2025 ~ The Detroit Lions added depth on the defensive line during the first round of the NFL Draft Thursday night in Green Bay, selecting Ohio State defensive tackle Tyliek Williams with the 28th pick.
The Buckeye product posted 46 tackles and 2.5 sacks during the team’s run to the National Championship. Over the course of his college career, he tallied 136 tackles and 11.5 sacks.
Williams is set to play behind Detroit starting defensive tackles Alim McNeill and D.J. Reader. With McNeill set to miss some time early in the season due to a torn ACL, Williams will be expected to provide a boost.

(CONTINUED) Williams took home Third Team All-Big Ten honors for the second season in a row after anchoring the best defense in College Football.
Multiple University of Michigan players were selected in the first round. Both defensive tackle Mason Graham and tight end Colston Loveland went in the first 10 picks, while defensive tackle Kenneth Grant was selected 13th overall. Loveland was drafted by NFC North rival Chicago, now coached by former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
Rounds 2-3 will take place tomorrow night starting at 7 p.m. Day three will conclude with rounds 4-7.
