DETROIT, April 24, 2025 ~ The sixth seeded Detroit Pistons could not grasp a lead larger than five in a 118-116 loss to the third seeded New York Knicks Thursday evening at Little Caesar’s Arena. Knicks forward Karl-Anthony Towns bounced back in a big way, leading all scorers with 31 points in game three, taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
Three other players for New York recorded over 20 points, with All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson reaching the 30 point threshold for the third consecutive time in the series. He also tallied nine assists and seven rebounds.
Detroit All-Star point guard Cade Cunningham and shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. led all Pistons with 24 points each. Cunningham finished with 11 assists to complete the double-double effort, but turnovers came back to bite. Cunningham coughed up the ball six times himself while the Knicks only gave it away nine times.

(CONTINUED) Veteran forward Tobias Harris and shooting guard Malik Beasley both had poor performances in the Pistons first home playoff game since 2019. Harris missed some time due to foul trouble and only went 2-9 from the field. Beasley only made 20% of his 3-pointers, shooting 2-10 from beyond the arc.
“I think we were good in the second half, our defense allowed us to get out in transition,” Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff told WJR Correspondent Nick Lundberg after the game. “We just need to continue to build off that.”
