Tech initiative geared toward minorities and women

A high profile event was held in Detroit aimed at fostering diversity in the tech field. Experts say minorities and women are major consumers of technology, but aren’t well represented in the field. Google is partnering with the Rainbow PUSH coalition to change that. The partnership sponsored a tech forum and networking event in Detroit to pair companies.  Reverend Jesse Jackson says hiring minorities is good business. The coalition has also enlisted the help of 1000  churches. They will create technology labs and start training the community.

WJR’s Erica Murphy has details.
