Water shutoffs resume, but there’s help for Detroiters behind on water bills

Faucet Dripping squareHelp is on the way for thousands of Detroiters who need help paying for their water bills. The Heat and Warmth Fund or “THAW”  is rolling out a new program aimed at helping residents who are having a tough time paying the utility bill. Tens of thousands of residents are behind.  A New York based investment firm, Miller Buckfire, is giving THAW one million dollars to help out those who are struggling to pay off mounting water bills. The program begins June 1. Representatives say each household can receive up to $2500 under the new assistance program.  The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department repeats their warning that water shutoffs will resume today.
