Truck driver ticketed in Sunday’s tanker crash

The truck driver who was at the wheel of a fuel tanker that crashed and exploded Sunday over I-375 told police that a mechanical problem caused his brakes to lock. However, state police have ticketed him for careless driving.

The driver wasn’t hurt, but the ramp is closed while crews replace 300 feet of concrete. State police say they will do a compliance review of the driver’s employer. The truck was operated by Dearborn-based Nour Light Petroleum Transport.

The ramp to northbound I-75 downtown is expected to be closed at least through Friday.
