Rule Coming To Require Cars To Talk To Each Other

cars-v2v

Auto safety regulators think that all new vehicles should have technology to talk to each other to avoid crashes.

It’s called V 2 V… vehicle to vehicle communications.
The proposed mandate would require cars, SUV’s, and light trucks to have systems that send messages to each other to keep from crashing.

The Transportation Department says the technology can potentially prevent 80 percent of non-impaired accidents, and save lives.

Automakers would be required to put the equipment in half of all new cars two years after a final rule by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and in all new vehicles within four years of the order. The Alliance of Auto Manufacturers says a system is already being tested.
