Livonia Board Meets On School Closings

download-livonia

The Livonia Board of Education will decide tonight if two of the district’s 14 elementary schools will close starting next school year.

Cass and Garfield schools are targeted for closing, due to falling enrollment and budget pressures.

The board met last week at the Livonia Career Technical Center to narrow down the possible options of closing some schools. Tonight’s meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the school district administration office, 15125 Farmington.

An option includes closing Cass Elementary and moving students to both Buchanan Elementary and Hoover School. Cass students would move into Randolph. Buchanan students would move to Grant Elementary.

Garfield Elementary would also close, with those students moving to both Randolph and Kennedy Elementary.
