Detroit Mayor Duggan has endorsed a large part of Governor Snyder’s proposal to restructure Detroit Public Schools. However, Duggan wants an elected local school board to be involved. Snyder’s plan would leave an elected board out of school operations. At the Mackinac Policy Conference, Duggan told The Frank Beckmann Show that Detroit’s population loss is linked to problems in the school district. He said he also believes they can work things out with the Governor.
