A man and woman have been charged with abuse and murder in connection to the death of a five year old Port Huron girl. Andrew and Hilery Maison were both charged with with homicide/open murder, torture and first-degree child abuse.
A judge entered a plea of not guilty on behalf of both of them. The pair is being held without bond. Makenzie Maison was brought to the hospital earlier this week where she died.
In court, a prosecutor said Makenzie weighed 25 pounds and she showed signs of abuse and being malnourished. Both are also facing torture and child abuse charges for another daughter, 3-year-old Makayla Maison. Andrew Maison is the biological father of the girls.
