Auto sales better than expected for May

Auto sales were better than expected in May. The usual suspects propped up sales: pickup trucks and crossovers.

GM posted a May sales increase of 3 percent with retail volume rising 7 percent. Jeep and Ram pushed Fiat Chrysler to a 4 percent gain, marking the company’s 62nd straight month of higher sales. Ford sales fell 1.3 percent.

Transaction prices are 4 percent higher than a year ago, according to Kelley Blue Book.
