Full Court Press On Pistons Move

The 5 members of the finance committee for the Detroit Downtown Development Authority who approved a plan to bring the Detroit Pistons back downtown have been ordered to appear in Wayne County Circuit Court today.

The committee members met in a closed door meeting last November to discuss the move of the Pistons from the Palace of Auburn Hills back into Detroit.

The DDA’s full board, later that same day, approved a deal which would have the team playing in the new Red Wings arena.

Robert Davis, known for filing lawsuits, did just that in this case, objecting to the private meeting of the finance committee.

The Pistons move downtown is expected to cost an additional $34.5 million in public money.

This is on top of the taxpayer money already being used for the hockey arena.

Davis says he thinks the private meeting was to keep this information from the public.

Judge John Gillis ordered today’s court hearing and he wants the finance committee members to bring with them all notes and recordings from its private

meeting in which the PIston’s move was discussed.
