A key legislative committee is set for a vote Wednesday on a road funding package. The House Roads and Economic Development Committee is expected to vote on a plan proposed by the House Speaker, Kevin Cotter.
The bill would tap money now earmarked for other things, like film incentives, some general fund money and elimination of the earned income tax credit for lower-income families. The plan would raise the tax on diesel fuel from 15 to 19 cents per gallon. In addition, a user fee would be placed on electric or hybrid vehicles.
