Courts Bring In More Trash Bribe Cases

Two of five people charged in a trash hauling scandal in Macomb county are expected to enter guilty pleas in an appearance in Detroit Federal Court today.

New Haven Trustee Christopher Craigmiles and former New Haven Trustee Brett Harris had been charged with accepting a bribe from an undercover FBI agent in exchange for their votes in approving a contract with a trash hauling company.

Prosecutors say Craigmiles took a 5-thousand dollars bribe and Harris 11-thousand dollars.

The others charged in the ongoing corruption probe are Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds, former Macomb Township Trustee Clifford Freitas and former Chesterfield Township Trustee Michael Lovelock.
