West Blfd. Murder In Court

A preliminary exam is scheduled to resume today for two men charged in the slaying of a West Bloomfield woman.

31 year old Diana Pesserl had been found shot to death in the trunk of her burning car on the property of the shuttered Pine Lake Elementary school last month.

The school is a few blocks from the home.

Charged with her murder is 18 year old Desean Smith of Detroit.

Charged with tampering with evidence and being an accessory after the fact is his friend 19 year old Jaylen Stringer.

Police say Smith had been visiting Stringer and saw Pesserl sitting nearby in her car and shot her during a robbery or carjacking attempt.

A police officer testified on the first day of the exam that Smith returned to Stringer’s home, showed him the gun, and said he shot her.

The gun was later found hidden in Stringer’s home.
