A 26-year-old Grosse Pointe Woods woman is charged with the drunk driving crash that killed a FedEx truck driver on Detroit’s east side.
Police said Myah Batts was drunk and driving at a high rate of speed when she ran a stop sign at Chandler Park Drive. Her car slammed into a FedEx truck. The driver, 48 year old Rodrick Motley was ejected from the truck. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Batts with second-degree murder, operating while intoxicated causing death, driving with a suspended license causing death and reckless driving causing death.
Batts is held in jail on a high bond. Her next hearing is scheduled for next month.
