White Boy Rick Gets Parole Meeting

“White Boy” Rick could be freed.

Richard Wershe will meet with a member of the state parole board today. It could lead to a full public hearing before parole board.
Wershe was a teenager when he began working as a drug dealer on the streets of Detroit.

He was sentenced to life in prison at the age of 17 year for cocaine possession.

He is Michigan’s longest serving prisoner for such a crime.

The law that got him life in prison is no longer in effect.

The Michigan Court of Appeals and the State Supreme Court denied a re-sentencing hearing.

Wayne County prosecutors have argued against Wershe’s release. But now, Kym Worthy says she will not oppose parole for Wershe.
