Pistons, HFHS Team Up

The Detroit Pistons and Henry Ford Health System are teaming up for what will be the team’s new practice facility, medical center and headquarters.

That announcement will be made today.

Crain’s reported in November that the location of the practice center would depend on which health system wound up providing medical services to the team.

Crain’s reports the Pistons’ agreement with the Detroit Downtown Development Authority says the DDA would issue up to $55 million in bonds for the practice facility to be paid from Pistons concessions revenue.

The Pistons plan to move from The Palace of Auburn Hills to Little Caesars Arena starting next season. A 60,000-square-foot practice facility north of the new Little Caesars Arena was expected to be built.
