Will Detroit Sue Orr?

Did the former emergency manager of Detroit hide information about the future of the city pension plans? Mayor Duggan says the city is considering a lawsuit against Kevin Orr’s firm, Jones Day.

Orr was the EM of the city during the city’s bankruptcy.

Duggan told the city council during the annual budget presentation the city plans to put $50 million this year into a trust fund to cover future pension payments.

Duggan said that the potential lawsuit hinges on whether Orr was obligated to keep Duggan informed during talks about what the city would owe when those pension payments resume in 2024.
