An ISIS admirer charged with weapons violations is due in court today in Detroit
22 year old Khalil Abu Rayyan had been arrested in February of last year on a gun charge.
He pled guilty in September to buying a gun while he was high on marijuana.
He was not charge with a crime of terrorism, but prosecutors says he spent years dedicated to the terrorist group ISIS and their acts of violence.
In a sentencing memorandum last week, they urged that he is a danger to society and should be sentenced to at least eight years on the gun charge.
His lawyer has asked for a 15-month sentence.
He said Rayyan had made some foolish comments in the past, but is now a changed man who loved America.
He is to be sentenced today.
