Sewer Sinkhole Pipe Gets Inspected

A new phase is opening in the saga of the sewer collapse in Fraser. Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Candice Miller says the length of the sewer interceptor will be inspected.

“We are starting to inspect all the rest of this particular stretch of pipe, 17 miles of pipe that’s included in this whole system,” Miller told the Frank Beckmann Show.

“That will allow us to do asset management, to determine exactly what the condition of the pipes are, so we can prioritize what we need to fix.”

Miller says they aim to complete the work by the end of the year. Total cost— about 75-million dollars, but more work could be done which could double the cost. Sewer system payers in the 11 affected communities will foot the bill.
