A judge has delayed a hearing for State Senator Virgil Smith of Detroit on charges in a shooting incident last month. Smith’s attorney Godfrey Dillard requested an adjournment of the hearing to investigate what Dillard termed as a “medical issue” related to the case. Judge Michael Wagner and prosecutors agreed to the adjournment until June 25.
Smith faces multiple felony charges after firing multiple shots at his ex-wife’s car after she came to his home unannounced and discovered he was with another woman. Today Anistia Thomas, Virgil Smith’s ex-wife, held a press conference after the court proceedings where she told reporters she was the victim of domestic violence.
