Search For School Supt. Goes On The Road

Some members of the Detroit Board of Education are in River Rouge today to take a close look at the operations of school superintendent Derrick Coleman.

He is on of two finalists being considered for the Detroit superintendents position.

Some board members had visited the Florida district last week of the other finalist, former Dearborn Heights native Nikolai Vitti.

The full board will meet this Thursday for further evaluations of the two men.

There have been some concerns that the board is moving too quickly and should slow down.

Critics also have wondered why Alycia Meriweather, who has served as the interim superintendent since March of last year, wasn’t a finalist for the job.
