The California-based owners of the long-vacant Summit Place Mall in Waterford Township have come up with a new plan for the site.
It would involve building a sports and entertainment complex and tearing down parts of the mall.
The sports complex could include indoor and outdoor soccer fields, ice rinks, a hotel and an IMAX movie theater.
The Waterford Township Board of Trustees will hear specific details on the proposed plan tonight at a 6 o’clock meeting at the township town hall at 52-hundred Civic Center Drive.
The malls owners have suggested numerous redevelopment proposals since the mall closed in 2009. A major stumbling block is the cost of demolition.
