Detroit Cops Shot

Two Detroit Police officers were  shot and wounded on the city’s west side. One of the officers is in critical condition. The shooter is in custody.

It happened around midnight at a home in the 20500 block of Lesure near 8 Mile.

Police say the two officers were responding to break-ins at the home when shots were fired through a door. One officer was hit in the face. The other was hit in the arm.
The officer who was hit in the arm is expected to be released from the hospital today. The other officer is in critical condition.

Police say a woman and her two sons, ages 19 and 14 and who live at the home are in custody. Police Chief James Craig said the 19-year-old fired the shot and may not have known that police were at the door. Craig says they have had several reports of break-ins in the neighborhood. The family says their home was the target of several attempted break-ins.
