Hearing Scheduled For Clerk

The Macomb County Ethics Board is scheduled to meet today in the latest controversy involving embattled County clerk Karen Spranger.

Two employees fired by Spranger claim they were let go in retaliation for ethics complaints they had filed against her.

Paul Kardasz and Erin Stahl filed a complaint with the ethics board last month.

They said the office was in disarray and that they had witnessed a pattern of incompetent, unethical and unlawful behavior and were punished for coming

forth with their complaints.

The charges are also the basis of a whistle-blower lawsuit they have filed against Spranger in Detroit Federal Court.

An attorney for Spranger says she was in her rights in firing the two because of substandard work.
