The death toll linked to the GM ignition switch defect continues to grow

The death toll linked to the GM ignition switch defect continues to grow. 114 deaths are linked to the faulty ignition switches on some older GM cars, up 3 from last week. Victims’ families are being offered settlements of at least $1 million. 229 people who were injured in crashes and survived are being offered settlements by attorney Kenneth Feinberg.  He was hired by GM to make independent judgments about claims, which gives survivors and families a chance to settle quickly without going to court. 4300 claims were received. More than 100 claims still must be reviewed.
