A Detroit man has been charged with the sexual assault and the murder of his 8 month old daughter at an Inkster hotel last week.
22 year old James Saltmarshall is charged with murder, child abuse and criminal sexual conduct. He was arraigned this afternoon.
Police were called to the Inkster hotel last week and found the girl unresponsive. The mother says the child was in good health when she left for work that morning.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says Saltmarshall killed the girl by causing trauma to her head. Rectal tearing was also found on the girl. She died from her injuries on Sunday.
