Fiat Chrysler made a profit of nearly 700- million dollars during the first quarter, a 34% jump compared with the same period a year ago. Profits in Europe and Maserati played a big role. The new Maserati Levante helped boost the luxury vehicle earnings by more than 500 percent. Europe profits rose 85-percent. North American profits increased slightly.
The quarterly earning are a record for the company since the merger of Fiat and Chrysler.
