Oak Park man who shot DPD officers appears in court

A 19-year-old Oak Park man accused of firing a gun that injured two Detroit Police officers was in court today.
Juwan Plummer faces 8 counts in connection to the April 16th shooting that injured the officers as they responded to a burglary call last week. The teen, who is out on bond, told police he thought the officers were burglars. Police say the teen feared for the safety of his family, and fired a single shot from inside the home, which struck the officers in front of the house on Detroit’s west side, near 8 Mile Road and Schaefer Highway.
Both of the officers are recovering from their injuries and have been released from the hospital. Plummer returns to court for a preliminary examination May 5th.
