The financial situation in Wayne County has just become critical. Wayne County Executive Warren Evans has asked the state to declare a financial emergency in his county. A spokesperson said Evans has sent a letter to State Treasurer Nick Khouri to declare the emergency and support a request for a Consent Agreement between the county and the State of Michigan.
A release from Evans office stated:
“As part of his commitment to execute his Recovery Plan to rid the county of its $52 million structural deficit, Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans requested an extra measure of support and authority from the State of Michigan.
