Get Ready For The Q Line

The head of the Q Line says they hope to have 3-to-5-thousand riders a day on Detoit’s new streetcar. The Q Line begins operations tomorrow, after months of testing. The Q Line runs for more than 3 miles along Woodward, from Larned on the south to Grand Boulevard on the north.
Matt Cullen says a wide cross-section of potential riders will use the Q Line, from people who work in downtown Detroit to suburban visitors to out-of-towners who want to explore the city.  Cullen points out that boosters believe streetcar line has already generated hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity along the route, in anticipation of the new service. Cullen confirms previous reports by WJR News that transit boosters hope this will be the first step in a return of what used to be the “Interurban Line” from Detroit to Pontiac.
