Is This Another Rock Suicide?

Rocker Chris Cornell is dead.
Cornell performed to a sold out crowd at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.

The rocker was staying at MGM Grand in Detroit where he was found dead after the show.

Cornell’s wife replortedly called a family friend and asked him to check on the singer. They forced open the hotel room door where Cornell was found dead in the bathroom with something around his neck.

Authorities indicate it appears to be a suicide.

Cornell gained fame as the lead singer of Soundgarden and later Audioslave.
The statement said the family would be working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause and asked for privacy.
An autopsy will be performed.

Cornell began his career in the Seattle rock scene forming the band Soundgarden in 1984, which was influential in the 1990s grunge movement. The group disbanded in 1997 .
In 2001, Cornell joined with three former members of Rage Against the Machine to form Audioslave. Soundgarden got back together several years ago.

Cornell was known to have a history of substance abuse.
