Macomb Audit: Expenses Ill-Advised But Legal

The forensic audit of the Macomb County Public Works Department has been completed. The Free Press obtained results of the audit, which looked into the practices of the former Public Works Commissioner Anthony Marrocco. The audit found that Marrocco spent more than 8-million-dollars in legal fees over a 3 year period for lawsuits against sewer bills connected to the city of Detroit bankruptcy and the Oakland Macomb Interceptor Drain. The audit, performed by UHY Advisors, found that the lawsuits and expenses were ill-advised and had no benefit to rate-payers, but were not illegal. Marrocco was defeated by Candice Miller in the election last November. Miller requested the audit.
