Accused Robber Of Cop Comes To Court

A 19 year old Detroit man is scheduled to be in court today for a preliminary exam on charges he took the handgun and cell phone of a Detroit police officer who had been wounded in a shootout.

Police say 19 year old Keevon Robinson was with another man who attempted to rob an off-duty Detroit police officer.

It happened at about 11pm on June 4th on Gratiot.

When the two men announced the holdup, the officer pulled his gun and shots were exchange.

Robinson’s partner was killed, the officer was hit and wounded.

Prosecutors say while he was on the ground, Robinson took his gun and phone and fled..

A further police investigation led to his subsequent arrest.

The officer is recovering from his wounds.
