Amazon Makes Big Delivery To Wayne County

The state confirms that Amazon plans a new distribution center in the Detroit area with lots of jobs.

Amazon is primed to build what it calls a ‘fulfillment center’ which will be a hub for merchandise deliveries in the region. The warehouse will go up in what Wayne County calls the Aerotropolis, in Romulus. The state expects 16-hundred jobs will be created. The final piece of the move by Amazon was a 5-million dollar grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund, which will help pay for infrastructure improvements.

The county and the city of Romulus think the arrival of Amazon could trigger further development of land nearby.

Retail analysts expect Amazon may also look to build another facility in west Michigan to take advantage of the improving economy there.
No timetable has been set for the new Amazon center.
