Deportation Case Developments Today

Attorneys working on behalf of Iraqi nationals facing deportation have been told to file motions on behalf of their clients by the end of today.

Federal court Judge Mark Goldsmith has been asked to stop the detainees from being deported.

Some 14-hundred had been arrested in recent raids … 114 of them from the Detroit area.

The judge ordered a temporary stay … but that order is to expire one week from today.

The ACLU and other attorneys working for the Iraqi’s are moving to certify a class-action lawsuit and get a preliminary injunction that would supercede the temporary stay.

The judge wants their motions filed by today.

The government would have until Thursday to respond.
